Events

The emphasis is on making students enjoy coming to classes by encouraging their interests and involving them in French culture. Cultural and social outings are organised within a class or for the whole of the Alliance Française.

Individual classes organise:

  • Trips to France (accompanied by a teacher with total immersion in the language).
  • Meals out.
  • Wine tasting.
  • Cinema or video sessions.
  • Guided walks.
  • ‘Dégustation’ of the French galette.

Alliance Française de Bristol and Bath offers for this year:

  • A show of sketches and word games

    • Students of Alliance Française de Bristol have been having fun learning French through theatre. Anyone with a little bit of French will understand the show and will really enjoy the evening.

  • Cineclub in Bath

    • Les mauvais joueurs, by Frédéric Balkdjan with Pascal Elbé and Simon Abkarian: French drama for students taking French courses in Bath with Alliance Française and for anyone enjoying French.

  • Wine workshop in French with Lionel, specialist on French wines!

    • Tutored tasting with Lionel, French sommelier and also French tutor!
      • "J'apprends le français et je goûte des vins".
      • Students taking part in this French workshop will be interacting in French with Lionel, learning specific French vocabulary about wines and asking questions in French. It will be a French class where students will taste wines selected with great care by Lionel.
      • A two hour workshop not only for students who take French tuition with Alliance Française but also for all lovers of French wine with a good GCSE French!
      • 10 people maximum, so book early!

  • Grenoble et sa région by Thierry Viennois

    • Lively talk with exciting photos followed by food and wine for students taking a French course with Alliance Française de Bath and anyone with a good GCSE in French.

  • Thierry Viennois: France- Angleterre: que de différences?

    • Come and find out what all these differences are and perhaps add some that you have noticed yourselves. This talk is presented by a popular French lecturer and is for students taking French lessons with Alliance Française de Bristol but also for everyone interested in France, a good GCSE French is recommended.
